Flagstaff is a good place to stay when visiting the Grand Canyon. There's not much to do, and it's very expensive, to stay near the Grand Canyon. Flagstaff on the other hand is relatively cheap, and the town has a pretty city center with activities and restaurants. The drive from Flagstaff is about 1½ hours.
