

Piața Unirii (Union Square) is one of the most central squares of Bucharest. The Northern part of the square is a park area with open grass fields and trees, while the Southern end consists of one of the largest dancing fountains in Europe. The square is surrounded by Lipscani (Old Town) to the North, Unirea Shopping Center to the East, Palace of Parliament to the West. Bulevardul Unirii (Union Boulevard), one of the main thoroughfares of the city, goes right through the square.

There's a lot of foot traffic on this part of the street since there's an entrance to the subway located here.

The dancing fountain is the main attraction of Union Square.

In Romanian they're called Fântâna lui Bucur.

Walking paths allow you to get very close to much of the area, despite it also being a vehicle roundabout.

During the day the park is pleasant and used by a lot of people.

Large parts of the park are not developed yet though.

There's huge potential for some refurbishment and modernization in the part of the square that's called Parcul Unirii (Union Park).

The park and square are a thoroughfare for pedestrian traffic in the area.

Piața Unirii was one of the proposed locations for the People's Salvation Cathedral. This is a monument celebrating this proposed location. The Cathedral is currently being built near the Palace of the Parliament.
