Yangon: Downtown

Downtown is the area east of Sule Pagoda and it's in this part of the city you'll find most of the colonial architecture. It's also here that the small steps towards modernization and a better quality of life can be seen. Several of the storefronts and buildings have been renovated recently and some quarters have been completely rebuilt. It's still many parts of Downtown that look dilapidated and in need of a facelift.
