São Paulo is often said to be nothing more than a sea of apartment buildings, but it is so much more than that! It is not as famous as other cities in the country from a tourist point of view, but São Paulo has always been the gateway to Brazil. Paulista Avenue is the modern center of the city where you will find world-class shopping and dining options. Just dining and restaurants are something that São Paulo is famous for and it's one of the best destinations in the world for a culinary experience. The old town, called Centro, is unfortunately quite run down but it has several sights such as São Paulo Cathedral or the Martinelli Building (the first skyscraper in Latin America).
